… It’s About Chairs
For all those of you who are new to the blog, I’d like to introduce you to a little feature called Thrifty Thursday! Like any other DIYer, I’m a big advocate of thrift shopping. Mostly because I’m cheap. But also because it’s green, good for the economy, and awesome.
This song is a little outrageous. But wonderful. And fun, for anyone who loves Thrifting. (It’s also the clean version… so my mom & pop can listen to it!) It is the anthem of DIYers world wide and Thrifters alike.
Today’s Thrifty Thursday comes to us from Caitlin in Santa Cruz, California! Caitlin is originally from Minneapolis, but is pursuing her doctorate in physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She earned her bachelors in Astro Physics from the U of M. She is brilliant and so BA! Caitlin is one of a kind. 100% her own. She was born on St Patrick’s day and loves all things green, and always has. So when she heard about Pantone’s Color of the Year EMERALD, she was just as elated as I was. How do I know so much about Caitlin? I’m not a total creeper, you see. She is my closest cousin and dear friend. We have been two peas in a pod for all time. Like Han Solo and Chewbaca. But less hairy. Distance has never been an issue with us. I have a montage to prove it.
When she moved to California, she had almost NO furniture. She didn’t have a big budget, so thrift shopping was her main game. She picked these dining chairs up from the Goodwill in Santa Cruz for $13 each. Did your jaw drop it like it’s hot? Are you stunned at the beauty of these chairs and at the fact that she made out like a bandit?
She texted me a picture of them back in August, and I fell hard core in love. And to be completely honest, I was totally jealous!
When Emerald was announced, these chairs were the first thing I thought of. I begged her to let me feature them. She kindly let me. They are an exact color match. ![]()
This has to be, hands down, the best deal I’ve heard of in the history of Thrift Shopping. I imagine this is what winning Phase 10 feels like. I wouldn’t know.
It pays to Thrift Shop, folks.
