Strut Yo’ Stuffz
Today my friend Ellie (Lauren) is strutting a sign she made for her sweet baby’s nursery. Ellie’s blog, My Happy Thought is a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. She shares all the happy things about her, her husband, and baby Paisley. Go visit her and tell her Kenz says, “Word up.”
She took a light weight board and modge-podged dictionary paper all over it. Let that dry completely before doing the next step. Once that’s dry as an elbow*, stick vinyl on top of it. It could be anything. A pattern, a quote, a silhouette, a bum print… you decide. If you don’t have a vinyl cutter, let me know, and I can hook you up with a good dealer.
After your vinyl is good and stuck down, paint the crap out of it. Ellie spray painted hers a nice apple red.
When your color is dry, peel the vinyl off. Ellie went an extra step by classying it up. She mounted a piece of plexi-glass to the front. I love it. It now lives in baby Paisley’s room.
Don’t you love the way it turned out? Such a gussy piece. Make sure to check out the full tutorial on Ellie’s blog.
And don’t be shy! If you’d like to strut, please email me at interiorsbykenz@gmail.com. It doesn’t need to be a full tutorial. You can just send me a picture of a finished product if you’d like.
Come back tomorrow for another day of snooping through my house.
*if you have really dry elbows, try cutting a grape fruit in half and soaking your elbows in that for 30 mins. Then come back and tell me thank you.
