Did we all survive the weekend? Are we all ready for next weekend already?! Yep. Thought so.
Let me take you back to a time when the world didn’t make sense. When the living room, dining room, and kitchen were 3 different rooms… with 3 different wall colors, and 3 different floorings:
I’ve been really looking forward to painting and making it one cohesive space. We polled you on facebook, and dang! You are all very opinionated when it comes to paint color.
We tested 4 paint samples. From left to right: Revere Pewter, Rockport Gray, Moonshine Gray, Edgecomb Gray
At first Aaron and I were really leaning towards Moonshine Gray.
Until we held up a piece of flooring to the samples.
Since the color would be going on top of white board and batten, and the cabinets are white, and the flooring is a lighter color, we thought a darker paint color would look great. Rockport Gray it was.
So our awesome friends and parents came over to help us get ‘er done.
While we were priming, Aaron was painting the ceiling. THE WORLD’S WORST CHORE. When we have kids big enough to hold a paint brush, if they get grounded, their punishment will be to paint the ceiling.
When the primer was dry, we slapped a chalk line where the board and batten would be. We’re doing 6 ft tall board and batten.
White on the bottom. Aaron called it the white citadel. And for good reason. It was a little too hospital-esque for me. The Rockport Gray couldn’t come fast enough.
Indy & Buster know how to help.
My precious mum. She is SO good to come help.
Houston, we are ready to lay flooring!
And that’s the saga of Rockport Gray and how it ended up on our walls, making it ONE open space.
Another item checked off the list:

Paint ceiling & walls
-Baseboards + board & batten
