Logos & Love

I hate not blogging.

I feel lost when I’m not typing to the tune of my personal DIY rhythm. (And I don’t mean that in the 7/4 “Money” sense. #darksideofthemoon anyone?)

Everyone knows the homestretch of school is always the hardest.  Some cool people are able to go to school, work full time, and manage their blog full time (Ugg Duck, I’m lookin at you!)  But not me.  When I had to drop it down, I expected my daily page views to go down.  (And they have- by 1000 per day)  But I didn’t expect to lose subscribers.  However, I did.  I lost several facebook and email readers.

On a scale from 1-10 going by levels of bummers, I was Kelly from season one of Survivor.  But you know what, it’s cool.  Because YOU terrific people cheered me up good and plenty.  And then I remembered, I would blog even if my mum was the only reader.  Because she’s worth it.  And I blog because I have this burning passion for turning my thoughts into words.

Anyway, bringing the tangent full circle:  I take my state exam on Saturday.  On the condition that I pass, I’ll be back in action.

I’ve been hinting to you fine folks that a new blog design is in the works.  I can paint a room like it’s nobody’s business, but picking blog design elements?  Perhaps a 3 year old could make up their mind faster.

I have a name twin, Kenzie, who is an amazing graphic designer.  She also happened to strut her stuff once.  I love her because she is incredibly patient with me when I say “I don’t know how I want it to look, but I want it to be stunning, and professional, and fun, and unique…so read my mind please.” I’m too difficult for my own good.

She has created 3 amazing logos.  And I love them all for different reasons.  I thought it would be fun to show you what she’s made so far, and have you vote on your favorite.

Now remember, this isn’t the header or anything.  This will be the watermark, part of signatures, etc.  Think “sideways heart” from YHL. And go with your gut.

    Wow! She did a stunning job. I don’t think you can wrong with any of them, but I think #1 will look best on business cards, stationary, etc.

      She is SOOO talented. Seriously. I love #1. It’s so conceptual, and out of the box. But I don’t know how well it translates to a general audience. I’m seriously on the fence.

    girl, i’m so glad i found your blog and have now been following for a few months. busy or not, lots of posts or just a few…i don’t care! i love reading your blog! i’m in the same boat of less than desired amounts of posting on my own little bloggy blog (www.mykindaperfect.com), but i’ve been so darn busy! i try to get a few posts a week up that are relevant and about things i actually want to blog about… so keep your head up! you may have lost a few, but you gained another reader/fellow blogger in this girl! =) happy hump day.

    Don’t get bummed. You are working hard and outside of blogging we all have lives. I started a business and my post went from 3x a week to one. I hate it too. But, I am going to still blog and hope my besties comes along for the ride. You are awesome, imagine if you had a child. Holy cow over kill. LOL, you rock and I am a fan!

    I vote #3. I think it shows what you’re all about…DIY. And it’s easy to read from a distance. I had to laugh at your reference to Pink Floyd. Division Bell was my first concert.

    Kenz! I must tell you I personally love #1. If I was in your shoes and had a successful blog, I would choose it in a heart beat for me. But I think #3 is too perfect for you to pass up! Best of luck Saturday! Also, I really respect you for commuting to a certain degree of work/life balance!

      Erin, I love #1 too. It is my favorite. It really speaks to me. But I get torn, because #3 is easy to connect to, and there’s no guessing what the blog is about. It’s been REALLY hard for me to go with the best choice. Thanks for the well wishes! I hope your new job is going well. You need to write a post soon so I can know what you’re up to!

    I love them all! But I voted for #2. It just spoke to me. I do love the look of #1 a lot, but my OCD brain wanted the IBK to be in order..It’s gorgeous though. And you’re seriously a fantastic blogger, especially considering how busy you are. Too many posts can be overwhelming, anyway. I also really respect that you take the time to reply to each comment. It helps your followers really feel more like friends. Good luck on Saturday!

    I had to stare at #1 for quite a while before I realized what it said. i didn’t immediately notice the middle was an “i” and not just a line and the “b” was confusing my brain….. let’s pretend I haven’t formally studied graphic design so I don’t feel awful about myself. haha. i voted for #3
