Liebster Award

I have been nominated a few times before this award, but I always felt awkward accepting it.  One of the rules is, you have to have less than 200 followers.  But here’s the thing.  What define’s “followers?”  Because, I don’t feel like anyone FOLLOWS me.  You know I consider you all FRIENDS, not FOLLOWERS.  I’m inadequate to lead anyone anywhere.

I have 434 Facebook Friends
I have 773 Pinterest Friends
I have 85 Instagram Friends
I have 114 Twitter Friends
I have 135 Email Subscribing Friends
I have no idea to know how many RSS Feeder Friends I have.

I don’t know what your medium is to read this blog, but the average of those numbers is 308.2
I feel like I’m an internet nobody.  But am I overqualified for the Liebster Award?  I don’t know.  But my good friend Marlyn at Beard Braids and Baby nominated me this most recent time.  You guys, you NEED to read her blog.  She is wonderful.  I look up to her so much.  I get warm fuzzies every time I read her words.
I also just got nominated by more friends Stephanie at Sandpaper and Glue, and Dani at This Workman Life.  Y’all must REALLY want me to have this award.  So I’ll take it!

I’m supposed to give you 11 facts about me.  Swear you won’t think less of me?

11 facts about Kenz

1- While growing up, all my friends and neighbors would call me Kenz-face.  I miss it.

2- When I was 12, without permission, I painted a mural of a sunshine on my wall.  It spanned 6 feet.

3- I was engaged once before.  His name was also Aaron.  When I got engaged for good to my Aaron, it got so confusing to some people, that we started referring to him as Aaron 2.0, which evolved to 2.0 and “updated version.”  It seemed fitting since he is a programmer.

4- My current responsibility at church is playing the piano for the kids during singing time.  I LOVE Primary.  And… I love that I don’t have to go to Sunday School.

5- When I was 8 years old my school sent me off to creative writing competitions, where I would win every time.

6- When I’m not eating it, the smell of ketchup makes me want to barf.  But I love eating it on hot dogs, and it doesn’t bother me at all.

7- No matter how hard I try to like them (And I try REALLY hard) I hate onions.

8- I cry too much.  One time, a Gmail commercial (see below) made me cry.

9- Until Aaron forced us into gettin a dog we got Indy, I hated dogs.  All dogs.  My whole life.  I was not an animal person.  Now I melt over every dog I see.

10- Every day of my life I miss flying airplanes and being around them.  And I think about it daily too.

11- I’ll never understand heart transplants.  I get frustrated watching Return To Me.

I am still completely in awe that you have a pilot’s license. That is just fantastic and I loved learning more about you! You rock. Congrats on the award. And thanks for nominating me. You are so sweet!
Do you have a picture of your 6ft sunshine? Would love to see that one!

    • Kenz

Oh thanks Katja. You’re so awesome. I love having my pilot’s license. It’s one of my greatest treasures. YOU rock! I can’t wait to learn more about you. I’ll have to see if my parents have a picture of the sun. It was so ridiculous.

    • Kenz

      SOOOOOO good!

  • Gretchen@BoxyColonial

Dave didn’t like dogs until he met my old dog, Oliver. I don’t know what I would have done if Oliver didn’t win him over…choosing between Dave and dogs…hmm….Thanks for the nomination :). I actually have had a couple of others, but I’ve been too…..lazy? shy? something? to follow through with it.

    • Kenz

That’s kind of how I’ve been too. In all honesty, I had a few spare minutes, so I decided “why the heck not?” I’m glad you were able to win Dave over with Oliver! I can’t imagine a life without dogs!

  • Paige Swarbrick

    • Kenz

OH I would have FLIPPED! Like, I am horrified of catching Pink Eye. Any time I hear about someone having it, I am the most paranoid person. I won’t even lay my head down on the couch cushions, because peoples’ butts have been there. Sometimes I even call pink eye “poop eye.” I’m SOOO glad you didn’t catch it!

  • Amber @ Wills Casa

This made me laugh…like actually out loud. Also I disagree amber is the color of your energy. Whoa-oo. Don’t argue with 311. ;) Thanks for the nomination!

    • Kenz

That’s true… never argue with 311. What was I thinking?!

  • Ashley

I LOVE that you said you’re afraid of mascots. I really, really thought I was the only one. I don’t freak out when I’m by one…. but I am extremely leery of them. Also. I really want to go to Greece, too.

    • Kenz

Oh my gosh, we’re the same. I do not like mascots. I avoid them at all costs. They make me feel really uncomfortable. I’m glad I”M not the only one either! Let’s go to Greece together.
