If our basement had a Facebook, its status would read, “Heyoh! Can finally see the light! If only those ‘people’ would get their crap together, we’d be done!” Yeah, I’m sure that’s what is on the b-ment’s brain.
If you’ve been on the stop & go journey with us, you’ll remember when we got crazy and knocked out a wall… and let it sit for 3 months. Then we framed out the nook… and let it sit for another 2 months. We had to correct several electrical problems. Then we sheetrocked. I learned I would rather eat drywall than hang it. We painted the walls “Urban Bronze” by Sherwin Williams, after several paint trials. We installed a metal accent wall. Then we sat another month. Our strongest quality is laziness pacing ourselves… So here is where we’re at:
In the nook: we just have to put the bead board up and hang the light fixture. I’m building some doors. Yeah, they’re sick. The cushion and pillows are in progress. I think it’s going to look ballin when it’s done. I’ll probably read 1810 books in there when it’s complete.
These little babies are getting covered in fence reclaimed wood. It will tie in with map wonderfully.
Once all the finishing touches are done and the trim is up, we’ll be solid. I’m still searching for the perfect rug, and book cases. I finally have a sewing machine to make the curtains. Let’s not forget the ultimate chair makeover happening right now too. It feels so good to see this room coming together. It’s like sex on a beach. Wait, no it’s not. It’s like winning the science fair. Oh, you don’t know what that’s like? Okay… it’s like, seeing your ex-boyfriend marry a really ugly girl. So I’m not the queen of analogies, but this room is making me really happy. Cheers!

Thanks for stopping by IBK! Our motto 'round these parts is: DIY BRAVERY! Extreme humiliation shouldn't keep us from creating beautiful things.
